Raising Successful Teens: How to Help Your Child Honor God and Live Wisely - By: Jeffrey Dean

The book I had the opportunity to review is “Raising Successful Teens” by Jeffrey Dean. Raising Children is a challenge and is a life lesson daily. But raising successful teens in a Godly way, requires a relationship with God and not just with the family.

It requires communication and bonding time, building a relationship with your teen. This generation has more devices that draws their attention away from face to face interactions, social skills, and etc.

The author detailed in the book about setting aside family time by

  • Eating at the table, not in the living room
  • No television
  • No Cell Phones
  • Pray before you eat
  • Talk about your day

The shaping of this book is great and should be shared with parents with children. I would recommend this book.

Something Needs to Change: A Call to Make Your Life Count in a World of Urgent Need

We often hear the words have a life worth living. The book I reviewed “Something Needs To Change” dealt with the hardships we don’t see on the other side of the globe. The book included a disclaimer in the beginning pre-warned the readers of the dangers that comes from following Jesus.  The author shared his journey of traveling in another country, seeing first had the pain, the horror that the country is experiencing. The country dire needs make you appreciate what you have. The reality in the  different parts of the countries has the same distress yet in very different locations.

The author uses the book of Luke to meditate on and to reflect the travel Jesus took. The author shares his reflections along with his traveling companion as they observe the rituals and their beliefs.  The bottom line is change will come with or without anyone consent.  We all will be accountable for what we done or haven’t done. This book is not for the faint at heart, the details in this book  is disheartening. However, the reality is this is the way of the world, on both sides of the globe.

It is a recommended read for those that wants to do mission ministry.  I receive this book from the publisher through their book launch program. @WaterBrookMultnomah #Partner

The Lord’s Prayer

I had the opportunity to review this book titled, “May It Be So” as part of the launch team. This book is based on the Lord’s Prayer with an artistic imagery included. The authors did a wonderful with the entire book. Its inspiring and the prayers is very heartfelt. I especially liked how one sentence ‘Grant me, once again, assurance of Your presence and love’ end the different chapters/sections in the book. This reminds of the importance of a prayer life.

There was this one image that when you first see it, one might chuckle a bit, but one once fully look at it they will gain a revelation. It speaks volumes to many that wear a mask to hide their identity. This prayer book will lift your spirits. I would recommend this book.

“The Jesus Who Surprises” book is designed for a group or individual Bible Study. It is a great book for teaching about Jesus, from the beginning of the book to the end of the book.  This book is filled with engaging lessons that ends with a prayer. The author did a wonderful job in writing and arranging the various chapters.  In the chapter where it discusses the Prayers in the book of Job, in the Song of Songs and of the Psalms pique my interest. Learning how to pray the various prayers in the Bible is great and learning from them help one expand in their prayer life.

I really enjoy this book in its entirety and also, the provided resources in the back of the book. Yes, I would recommend this book, it makes a great resource and supplement study.

“Ever Faithful” book was sent to me to review. The book is a fresh down to earth story of trust, faith, love and hope. The story line had some twist and turns in it to keep the readers engaged. The location is Yellowstone National Park Preservation.

The story detailed strength, preserve, and trials through the characters. Each character transition well within the story. The author did a great job in developing a story that include a historical Park and how to preserve it as well. “Ever Faithful” is nicely written and organized as each chapter flowed with precision.

Ferocious Warrior: Dismantle Your Enemy and Rise

The book “Ferocious Warrior” is very powerful read. The book  from the Introduction to the Conclusion is phenomenal.  I could not put this book down, I felt every hurdle, pain and disappointment. It reminds us to be grateful of all the trials and tests we have overcome. We don’t have to look like what we’ve been through. The author has had  ‘But God’ experiences that gives hope to others.

In sharing some phrases that really hit home. One was “Your fight may not be like mine.” Another one is “Whatever your fight looks like, you’re not alone.”  Powerful words to remember when you’re in an unfavorable circumstance.

‘Ferocious Warrior’ is a book that will not let you back down even if you had the opportunity to do so. Its’ about standing with all your might and strength, knowing who and what you know will help you avail much. Regardless of what issues that comes your way stand bold, stand fearless, be fierce, and always pray without ceasing.

I highly recommend this book.  I receive this book for my review from Charisma House.
